THE METROPOLIS MISSION

At Metropolis, our philosophy regarding hair is, "It's your ego we're concerned about, not ours!" We want every style to be what you demand in terms of function, accuracy, and excellence! Getting your hair cut shouldn't be an uncomfortable experience. Communication is the key to better understanding between both parties. We encourage you to bring pictures of your desired style if you already have one in mind. We understand that non-hairdressers may not be familiar with technical cutting terms that hairdressers are familiar with. What means "Feathering" in the United States (an outdated term for layering) means a whole different technique in the United Kingdom. With that in mind, visuals are welcome when you're trying to describe the look that you want.

THE CONSULTATION

During your initial Metropolis Salon Consultation, your stylist will determine, your hair's density, texture, condition, and natural color. Your stylist will then look at your facial structure to determine what cut would best frame your face. Many questions should be asked during this time. Everything from what you do for a living to how many children you have and their ages are variables we need to be aware of. What does this have to do with your hair you may ask? If you think about it, it has everything to do with your time frame in the morning as well as how talented you are at styling your own hair and what tools you may need to perform these tasks. We're pretty confident that we can pretty much recreate any picture you may show us, however, if it doesn't fit your face or you fail to duplicate it on a regular basis, it may be like wearing an outfit that you loved initially, but when you put it on, you hate it. We all know that feeling right? Being trapped all day in an outfit that we dislike? It pulls all the positive energy right out of you. You don't feel confident in it, nor can you project yourself in a confident, upbeat manner. Well, imagine having to wear that outfit every day. A non functional, unflattering cut is the same thing except we can't just take it off and change it as easy as an outfit. With the right in-depth consultation, we can avoid a host of mistakes and help insure that you end up with a creation that not only makes you look and feel better, but one that you can master yourself....at home. PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS

Our professional line of products are divided up into four different categories: Cleansers, Conditioners, Liquid Styling Tools, and Finishing Sprays. Depending on your hair's length, texture and condition, your stylist will determine which products will best suit your hair. Is there a big difference between "Over The Counter" OTC's and professional products? Yes, there is...in fact, there's a big difference, usually starting with the water content verses active ingredients. You must remember that styling products such as mousse, gel, pomade or sprays are much like that of a brush, blow dryer, or comb, they are considered tools as well. Without them, you may not get the lift, shine, separation or volume needed to finish your style. Did you know that many salons force their staff to meet a quota of sales in retail items compared to their service totals at the end of any given week? This may force stylists to sell you an item just to meet a quota. At Metropolis, no such quotas are demanded from our staff. When we recommend a certain product for you, it's because we have determined you need it. Please ask us any questions you may have regarding our professional products. We will be glad to answer any of your questions during or after your service.

FOLLOW UP

In addition to a confirmation call a day before your appointment, you will also receive a follow-up call the day after your appointment. Our salon coordinators will contact you to make sure that you are completely satisfied with your hair service. It is extremely important that you take this opportunity to share with us your excitement or any variables that did not meet your expectations. We will take every measure to insure that your color, movement, cut, or overall look fits your face perfectly. However, if you cannot duplicate this look and feel at home, you most likely will not be happy. Only when you communicate with us can we take additional measures to improve our service for you. We believe that fashion must be coupled with function in order to create a harmonious union with your hair. Please remember, it's your ego we're concerned with, not ours.
